Scholarships Just for Girls

Although equal rights have come a long way in the past decades, it is still difficult for girls to succeed in many areas. To help correct this imbalance, there are many scholarships for girls that help these future professionals get the education they need to be successful. These scholarships are available for every purpose from meeting financial need to encouraging girls to enter traditionally male-dominated fields.

Stan Beck Fellowship

The Stan Beck Fellowship, while not solely scholarships for girls, is designed to help students who want to enter a career in entomology or a related field and who have a need based on minority, economic, physical, or environmental limitations. Interested students must submit all materials by July 1. Required materials include completion of the CV template at http://www.entsoc.org/awards/student/beck, a letter of recommendation, a description of academic studies and plans, current transcripts, a statement of need or challenge, a letter of recommendation from an academic advisor, and two letters that support the need or challenge.

FWA Scholarships

FWA scholarships for scholarships for girls are designed to provide assistance to women in the San Francisco Bay Area who are studying finance or financial services. These scholarships provide $5,000 each to undergraduate students and $10,000 to graduate students as well as mentoring and an Associate-level membership in FWA. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an accredited Bay Area college or university and have at least a 3.4 GPA. Applications are available at the official site and are due by March 24.

Surety Industry Scholarship Program for Minority Students

To be eligible for these scholarships, students must be minority students who have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours of college work in insurance or risk management, accounting, or business and finance. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and must be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. college or university. Applications are due by April 30 and must be accompanied by the Financial Aid worksheet, official academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and the required essay. Hyatt Hotels Fund for Minority Lodging Management Students

The Hyatt Hotels scholarships were started in 1988 to help minority students pursue a hotel management degree. In order to be eligible for the award, students must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours for the coming fall and spring semesters, be majoring in hospitality management, be at least a sophomore in a bachelor’s or higher program, be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. and be either African-American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander, or American Indian or Alaskan Native. Winners receive a plaque and a $2,000 scholarship. To apply, download and complete the application at the official site and make sure all materials are submitted between January 1 and May 1.
