Economics Scholarships

An economics degree may lead to careers in various fields, including banking and other areas in the world of finance, as well as business and academia. Many colleges and universities offer scholarships in economics, with undergraduate awards generally going to upperclassmen with declared majors. Undecided students may be leery about giving economics a chance – especially if they are not “math people” – but the truth is a degree in economics can open many doors after college…doors that don’t require complex algorithms and lengthy equations to access.

Sure, some econ majors trade treasury bond options or study employment (and unemployment) trends but that’s not the only route to take: Plenty of others put their knowledge toward crime, obesity and political research or branch out into related fields like journalism, education and finance. Or you could end up a Secretary-General of the United Nations, fashion designer, NFL quarterback or Oscar-winning actress, if the names above are any indication.

Economics is quickly climbing the ranks as one of the most popular and highest paying college majors, especially when paired with a second major like business or a foreign language. Because of this, economics scholarship opportunities are being offered to majors from virtually every organization – be it local, collegiate and corporate – imaginable.
