Connecticut Scholarships

Connecticut scholarships and grants are an important part of the educational environment in Connecticut. Use our scholarship search to view, sort, and filter Connecticut scholarships.

The Connecticut Department of Higher Education (CDHE) is a state organization with a variety of services geared towards students of children attending a postsecondary school and their parents. For more information and to learn how to apply for these financial aid opportunities, check out the CDHE website. Here is a list of scholarships and grants offered by the CDHE:

Capitol Scholarship: A Connecticut high school student in the top 20 percentile of their class, who earned a minimum combined SAT score of 1800 and a minimum ACT score of 27 are eligible for this scholarship.

Connecticut Minority Teacher Incentive/Weisman Teacher Scholarship: Both scholarships are for full-time college junior or senior African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian-American or Native-American heritage. Additional requirements include being nominated by an Education Dean and obtaining a teaching job at a Connecticut public school within 16 months after graduation.

Connecticut Aid for Public College Students: All Connecticut students attending a Connecticut public college or university are eligible to receive this form of aid. This is meant to supplement the tuition portion that federal grants and scholarships are unable to cover.

Connecticut Independent College Student Grant Program: Students who receive aid from this grant program are deemed eligible after completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Scholarships from Connecticut Colleges and Universities

Often, Connecticut colleges and universities will offer scholarships to students who graduated from Connecticut high schools. These scholarships may be granted based on financial need, merit, special talents, sports abilities, ethnicity, department, a combination or more. For example, the Pettinico Family Scholarship offered through the Central Connecticut State University is open only to high school seniors graduating from Wolcott High School who have a combined SAT score of 1150 or higher and rank as one of the top 25 students.
